Free trip to DC for qualifying youth

"The duty of youth is to challenge corruption." — Kurt Cobain

I MUST ADMIT that I would not have suspected that i would ever have occasion to quote Kurt Cobain.

Yesterday while I was at the printer checking a proof, there was another proof lying on the counter for a poster advertising an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, DC for high school students who live in rural electric co-op areas. The trip will be June 7 – 15, 2012.

According to the website, the Electric Cooperative Youth Tour has been bringing high school students to DC for more than 40 years, and upwards of 1500 students each year are selected. Click here to read about the application process and follow the link on the US map to your state to get more details. It's not too early to start thinking about whether you might know a deserving young person who would love to take advantage of this remarkable opportunity — one that she or he might never be able to otherwise afford, times being what they are and all.
